The history of Microsoft Store listings leaks have been generally proven to be correct in the past, so there is hope that you will be exploring the world of Far Cry 6 this year. The story and game setting
The Far Cry series is famous for its original stories and amazing graphics and this time too it looks like the makers are living up to the expectations. Far Cry has taken its players to the exotic locations in the past but this time things seem to change. Game is set on a fictional caribbean island called Yara. It is ruled by a dictator named Antón Castillo who is training his son to take after him. It’s going to be the biggest playground in any Far Cry game to date. The aesthetics of the Yara is inspired by Cuba. Esperanza is its capital city, the first main urban environment in a Far Cry game.
Ubisoft is calling Yara ‘an island stuck in time’ which has been ruled by Antón for the past fifty years. The guy has ruled the country single handedly for so long that it has caused the uprising of the revolutionary guerilla movement which is completely unacceptable for him.
Far Cry has previously introduced us with most vicious villains like the brutal crime lord Hoyt Volker in Far Cry 3 or the cult leader Joseph Seed also known as ‘The Father’ in Far Cry 5. The trailer shows that they are not going to disappoint the players this time either. The game has 2 major villain characters, Antón Castillo is the ruling dictator of Yara and his 13 year old son Diego. Antón is guiding his son on how to rule the country and control the people.
Giancarlo Esposito the actor who is famous for his role as the villain in ‘Breaking Bad’ series (Gus Fring) is playing the role of dictator of Yara. He mentioned that Antón will be getting his son in the empowerment to make hims probably the next leader of the country. He is appreciating these ideas and will be working on it. Antón believes that Castillos have a right to rule Yara. You can see in the game trailer him giving his son a lesson on how to control his people by handing him a grenade, not an everyday advice from a usual father.
This shows the behavior of the dictator towards the people of his country which essentially has given birth to the rebel powers in the country.
The player has the role of ‘Dani Roja’, a guerrilla fighter and the leader of the freedom movement. This is different from other Far Cry series games where the player is not given a specific name. The player can choose Dani’s gender at the start of the game. Depending on the chosen gender the player will have a voice too. Your actions as Dani will have an impact on the people of the island so you have to take decisions very carefully.
Talking about giving name to the player character, the narrative director of Far Cry 6 Navid Khavari who has been part of the Far Cry franchise since part 4 says, “We proceeded with a relatable story as to make it revolutionary and impactful, the connection should be there. Telling a story about guerrilla movement will connect everyone with it.” he added. “There has to be someone who knows the world around. So we made the player have a voice of his own .”
As this is the first urban setting in any Far Cry game, in an interview narrative director Navid Khavari says “The vertical world of Far Cry 6 is a complete game-changer. Players running across rooftops, using dark back alleys, one on one fight with the most tough opponents is really fresh and different. ” The vintage carsand guns will be almost postcard worthy scenes. According to the narrative director the team of Far Cry 6 has researched for a month in Cuba to make it look as authentic as possible.
The weapons that are being used indicate the 50 years blockade of the country and give a vintage feel. The system of gun for hire is also making a comeback in Far Cry’s 6th edition. It is named using spanish “Amigos for Hire”. Ubisoft is promising new employable companions in the game. The option of animal recruits from the Far Cry 5 is also available in this one. The highlight of this part is a sausage dog on a wheelchair named Chorizo, and he seems like the most loveable yet terrifying character of the game.
Far Cry 6 will be launched on multiple consoles and PC, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5 consoles.
Like the previous Far Cry games, Far Cry 6 will be using Dunia Game Engine ( a well-optimized game engine ). You would be able to play Far Cry 6 on a PC if you have a system with Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz / AMD FX-8350 processor or higher. AMD Radeon R9 380, RX 570 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB, GTX 1050 or better will be enough to run the game but if you want to enjoy the game on higher resolution and frame rates, you should opt for a GTX 1660ti or better a GTX 2060.
